Oral Surgery Studio

Frequently Asked Questions

At Oral Surgery Studio, we want you to feel informed and comfortable before, during, and after your care. Here are answers to some of the most common questions we receive.

Do I need a referral to see Dr. Mederos?

While many patients are referred by their general dentist or orthodontist, you do not always need a referral. You are welcome to contact us directly to schedule a consultation.

What procedures do you specialize in?

We offer a full range of oral and maxillofacial surgery services including wisdom teeth removal, dental implants, bone grafting, sinus lifts, impacted canine treatment, pathology and biopsy services, and pre-prosthetic surgery.

What type of anesthesia is available?

We provide multiple anesthesia options to ensure your comfort, including local anesthesia, nitrous oxide (laughing gas), and IV sedation. Dr. Mederos will review your health history and recommend the safest and most effective option for you.

Are dental implants right for me?

Dental implants are an excellent option for replacing missing teeth. Dr. Mederos will evaluate your oral health and jawbone structure to determine if you are a candidate. If additional support is needed, procedures such as bone grafting or sinus lifts may be recommended.

How do I know if my wisdom teeth need to be removed?

Wisdom teeth are often removed if they are impacted, causing pain, crowding, or infection. During your consultation, Dr. Mederos will use X-rays and a thorough exam to determine whether removal is the best option.

Is oral surgery painful?

We make your comfort a top priority. With advanced anesthesia techniques and personalized care, most patients experience minimal discomfort and smooth recoveries.

How long is recovery after oral surgery?

Recovery depends on the procedure. For simple procedures, patients often return to normal activities in a few days. For more complex procedures, full recovery may take one to two weeks. Dr. Mederos will provide detailed aftercare instructions to support healing.

Do you offer emergency services?

Yes. We understand emergencies can happen. If you experience facial trauma, severe dental pain, or urgent oral surgery needs, please contact our office immediately.

Is the office bilingual?

Yes! Dr. Heidi Mederos speaks Spanish fluently, and our team is proud to serve the Hispanic community with personalized, bilingual care.
